Answer: As a matter of fact, Upanayanam is performed as per their following of a specific Veda. All the three Vedas, viz. Rg, Yajur & Sama are common to all. Yet, each Veda is followed by a group that belong to such practices of their elders. While you prostrate to elders, you are supposed to declare the Gothra Pravaram that includes your Veda, It is known as Abhivathanam. If you know the abhivadana mantra, you can simply locate in from it, that begin with Abhivaadaye, then names of Gothra Rishis, then the soothram and then the Veda one follows, followed by Gothrram. So, in your case, you need check the Abhivadanam where the Veda that you need to follow is simply included. You can check with your family elders or with the vadyar whom performed the Upanayanam so that you can get your doubts cleared
