Srivaishnavam Parambaryam, Traditions & The Culture that stands Class apart from othersEssence of Srivaishnavam Practices
For all the Surya and Chandra Grahanam (Solar & Lunar Eclipse) there is a slokam to be recited at least 28 times (or 108 times) at the beginning of Eclipse. This is for those who are born under a particular birth star (Nakshatra) in which the Eclipse occurs. This is the Grahana Shanthi parihara slokam, given for each Grahana or eclipse as below, in Sanskrit, Tamil and the phonetic English versus:
For Solar Eclipse (Surya Grahanam):
इन्द्रोनलो दण्ड धरश्र्च ॠक्षः प्रचेतसो वायु कुबेर ईशः ।
मज्जन्म ॠक्षे मम राशि संस्थे अर्कोपरागं शमयन्तु सर्वे ॥
indro’nalo daṇḍadharaśca ṛkṣaḥpracetaso vāyu kubera īśaḥ ।
majjanma ṛkṣe mama rāśi saṃsthe arkoparāgaṃ śamayantu sarve ॥
